Which Teams Play in the Nations League?

Format & Schedule of the 2024-25 Nations League

For the 2024-25 Nations League, League A, League B, and League C are divided into four groups of four teams each. Meanwhile, League D has two groups of three teams each. In Leagues B, C, and D, the winner of each group earns promotion to the next level while the runner-up in each group advances to a two-leg promotion/relegation playoff against a team from the league above.

In Leagues A and B, the bottom team in each group is relegated while the third-place team goes to the promotion/relegation playoff against a team from the league below. In League C, the two worst last-place teams are automatically relegated while the other two last-place teams play a promotion/relegation playoff against the two second-place teams from League D.

In League A, the top two teams in each group advance to the quarterfinals. For the quarterfinals, one group winner is paired with one runner-up for a two-leg playoff with the winners advancing to the semifinals. The semifinals, finals, and third-place match are all a single match rather than a two-leg playoff.

The league phase of the 2024-25 UEFA Nations League runs from September 5 to November 19, 2024. The quarterfinals for League A and the promotion/relegation playoffs for Leagues A, B, and C will take place in March 2025. The promotion/relegation playoffs between League C and League D are scheduled for March 2026. The semifinals, finals and third-place match for League A will be held in June 2025.
